HIMBY is provided to help people explore health and care services in England. By using the site, you accept these terms and the limits described below.

What HIMBY does—and does not do

• HIMBY helps users find and compare publicly listed health and care services. It uses search rules and automated systems, which may include artificial intelligence, to interpret ordinary wording and match it to directory categories.
• That interpretation is used only to search and rank services. It does not determine what condition a person has, how clinically urgent their needs are, or what investigation or treatment they should receive.
• HIMBY is not staffed as a clinical service. Using the site does not create a doctor-patient, clinician-patient, or other professional healthcare relationship with HIMBY.
• Any reference to urgency is emergency signposting or a directory-search label, not clinical triage. Users must not rely on HIMBY to identify or rule out an emergency.
• Do not start, stop, or delay treatment—or delay seeking professional help—because of information or rankings shown by HIMBY.

Emergency and urgent help

• If someone may be seriously ill or injured, their life may be at risk, or immediate help is needed, call 999 or go to A&E. Do not wait for a response or result from HIMBY.
• If medical help is needed now but it is not a life-threatening emergency, use NHS 111 online or call 111. For urgent mental-health help, use NHS 111 and select the mental health option where available.
• HIMBY does not monitor search requests, contact emergency services, or guarantee that urgent wording will be detected.

Data sources and attribution

• HIMBY includes information derived from Care Quality Commission inspection reports and ratings.
• HIMBY uses NHS England GP catchment and organisation data, including ODS practice and branch information where available.
• HIMBY uses postcode and mapping data to estimate proximity between users and services.
• HIMBY may use NHS England waiting-time datasets for GP and NHS hospital comparisons.
• Some data sources are public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
• Official licence details are available under the Open Government Licence v3.0.

Use of CQC data

• HIMBY does not alter official CQC ratings.
• HIMBY adds user-friendly groupings, specialties, summaries, and search layers to make the raw data easier to navigate.
• Original CQC categories and reports remain the primary regulatory source.
• Some newly registered or unrated providers may be absent or only partially represented.

Preference scores and analysis

• HIMBY may show ranking signals such as quality, distance, wait, access, inclusion, or communication support.
• These scores are product-generated interpretation layers, not official NHS or CQC ratings.
• Some summaries and tags are derived from automated analysis of provider and inspection material.
• Comparisons are meant to help navigation and are not clinical advice, a clinical recommendation, or a guarantee of real-time availability.

Limitations

• HIMBY is an information and navigation tool, not an emergency service and not a substitute for professional medical advice.
• Search results may be incomplete, delayed, broader than requested, or based on honest fallbacks when exact matches are unavailable.
• Automated interpretations, summaries, labels, and rankings can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. A high ranking is not an endorsement of a provider and does not mean that the provider is clinically suitable for a particular person.
• A provider appearing in a result does not guarantee that it offers the service required, is accepting patients, has capacity, accepts a particular referral or funding route, or will regard the user as eligible.
• Users should check official provider information and contact the provider or a qualified healthcare professional before making healthcare decisions.

Responsibility and legal rights

• HIMBY aims to provide the service with reasonable care and skill, but public datasets, third-party websites, estimated distances, waiting-time data, and provider information can change without notice.
• Healthcare providers listed by HIMBY are independent organisations. HIMBY does not control their clinical decisions, availability, eligibility rules, services, or acts and omissions.
• Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or rights and remedies that consumers cannot lawfully waive.

Accounts and saved features

• Signed-in users can save services and settings to their account profile.
• Account authentication may be handled by third-party identity infrastructure used by HIMBY.

Licence and ownership

• Public sector source data remains subject to its original licences, including the Open Government Licence v3.0 where applicable.
• HIMBY's additional search logic, ranking layers, summaries, interface design, and evaluation work remain protected by the site owner's rights.

Changes, governing law, and contact

• These terms may be updated when the service or applicable requirements change. Material changes will be identified by the effective date above.
• These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Mandatory rights that apply to a consumer are not affected.
